Meet the team at Orkney & Shetland Charters

On board the Valkyrie and the Valhalla we believe that customer service should be top of our priorities & we are constantly changing and improving the boat for our guests.

Unique in Scapa Flow we have three permanent crew members to help assist you and make your holiday as easy and comfortable as possible & aim to keep standards at their highest.

We believe that this should be a holiday and aim to do everything we can to make it as enjoyable as possible for you. A problem should be a mere inconvenience, not cause for panic, alarm or worse for you to miss a dive.

We promise that our boats MV Valkyrie and MV Valhalla will always be safe, warm, dry, clean and comfortable for you.

MV Valhalla

The Valhalla was built for the Royal Navy as RNAS Loyal Factor but was quickly converted into a patrol boat and commissioned as HMS Vigilant to serve in Northern Ireland where she remained until the 1990s when she was handed back to the RNAS (Royal Naval Auxiliary Service) and served as the training vessel Sultan Venturer for the Naval engineering school in Gosport.

We purchased her in 2012 and spent 5 years converting her into a purposeful, go anywhere, diving vessel.

Her strong, no-nonsense, all steel construction makes her a great diving platform and her luxurious interior makes living aboard more than just comfortable.

  • Length – 23.95m

  • Beam – 7.2m

  • Draft – 2.8m

  • Gross tonnage – 189 tonnes

  • 240v Generators – 2

  • Main engine – 500hp Cummins

  • Range – 3000km

  • Compressor 1 – 11cft Alkin

  • Compressor 2 – 5cft Bauer

  • Divetech booster

  • Palfinger 3500 Hydraulic crane

The Valhalla has 6 cabins.

5 of these are on the lower deck, each with twin bunks and en-suite shower and washbasin and 1 cabin with twin bunks and an adjecent toilet and shower on the main deck.

A spacious lounge and inside changing room with charging area, make up the rest of the forward accommodation, while a galley and mess are situated towards the stern.

She has an up-to-date bridge electronics package and multiple redundancy giving her the capacity and safety to go anywhere with her MCA CAT 1 coding (up to 150 miles from shore), and her 500hp main engine that can drive her at a competition beating 12 knots for up to 25 days.

The Valhalla is a firm favourite of her guests with her awesome seakeeping ability and solid dive platform performance.

Gasses can be blended using her onboard gas system which includes a booster for 200bar+ CCR o2 fills.

A load tested, strong and wide diverlift will bring you out the water after your dive.
