Blue Canyon
Hello from Toni at Purple Turtle Diving
Purple Turtle Diving was founded in 2011 by Toni, who is a passionate and experienced open and closed-circuit diver. Her vision was to run a school where the team of professionals were made up of people who are all active divers and have a love for enabling divers to reach their potential.
Toni is a TDI and SDI Instructor Trainer as well as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, TecRec Instructor and First Aid Instructor Trainer. She feels that it’s very important for educators to continue their own education and has recently completed her Hypoxic Trimix training on her rebreather.
Toni believes that in order to be a strong instructor who can teach effectively, you must remember why you dive and what you love most about diving. As such, it’s not uncommon to find Toni on dive charters, on dive holidays or at one of the inland sites when she’s not teaching. And she’s usually with some of the other Purple Turtle Diving staff or previous students!
Technical Courses
TDI Intro to Tec
This 2-day course introduces you to the world of technical diving and we will look at improving dive planning, in-water skills such as advanced buoyancy and situational awareness, and streamlining existing gear configurations in a controlled and fun learning environment, while wearing technical twinset configuration. You learn about proper gear selection and preparation, buddy gas matching, mastery of S.T.A.R.T, trim, finning techniques and body position.
Equipment required: Mask, fins, appropriate exposure protection, surface marker buoy and reel or spool, twinset, twinset regulator set, wing and backplate – equipment can be rented for the duration of the course, please let us know your requirements and we will quote as appropriate
Prerequisites: 18 years old (15 with parental consent), SDI Open Water Diver or equivalent, 25 dives, complete the RSTC medical form
Course cost (includes instruction, manual and certification costs): £300 per participant. Not included are site entry, equipment hire and gas.

TDI Advanced Nitrox
This two day course (including 4 dives totalling a minimum of 100 minutes) picks up from the Nitrox course and takes an in-depth look at the physics and physiology relating to diving with gas mixes from 41% to 100% oxygen, gas planning, dive tables, dive computers, oxygen limitations, nitrogen limitations, equipment selection, cylinder labeling, nitrox analysis, oxygen servicing ratings and gas blending procedures.
Equipment required: Mask, fins, appropriate exposure protection, surface marker buoy and reel or spool, twinset, twinset regulator set, wing and backplate – equipment can be rented for the duration of the course, please let us know your requirements and we will quote as appropriate
Prerequisites: 18 years old (15 with parental consent), TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent, show proof of 25 logged dives, complete the RSTC medical form
Course cost (includes 2 days instruction – additional days can be added at £150 per diver per day if required, manual and certification costs): £300 per participant. Not included are site entry, equipment hire and gas.

TDI Decompression Procedures
This two day course prepares you for staged decompression diving to a maximum depth of 45m, the TDI Decompression Procedures course is your first step beyond the recreational sports diving limits. This course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox lays the foundations for all technical diving courses. This course teaches you about decompression planning, decompression dive procedures, proper trim, buoyancy and finning techniques, emergency procedures, and equipment selection and preparation.
Equipment required: Mask, fins, appropriate exposure protection, surface marker buoy and reel or spool, twinset, twinset regulator set, wing and backplate, stage cylinder and regulator cleaned for oxygen use with appropriate rigging – equipment can be rented for the duration of the course, please let us know your requirements and we will quote as appropriate
Prerequisites: 18 years old, SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent, show proof of 25 logged dives, complete the RSTC medical form
Course cost (includes 2 days instruction – additional days can be added at £150 per diver per day if required, manual and certification costs): £325 per participant. Not included are site entry, equipment hire, accommodation and gas.
Combined Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures
This course is run over 4 days and incorporates the two above courses.

TDI Advanced Nitrox and Helitrox course
This four day course introduces you to diving with helium to offset narcosis, allowing you to plan and conduct staged decompression dives with a maximum of 35% helium in the gas mix to a maximum of 45m. We will discuss equipment requirements and configurations as well as decompression techniques.

Not included are site entry, equipment hire, accommodation and gas (including a portion of the instructors gas, which is split between participants).
TDI Trimix Course
This four day course will introduce you to deeper diving to 60m and the planning (including gas selection), skills and equipment required to complete these dives safely. We look at advanced planning, problem solving and fine tuning your skills so that you can conduct dives using a minimum of 18% oxygen with a blend of helium to offset narcotic affects.
