TDI Basic Nitrox

You drop into the crystal clear waters, decend to 16 metres, and begin to float along letting the beautiful reef float past. In what seems no time at all, you check your computer and realise you have no bottom time remaining, but still have air in your tank! What can you do ??

Why TDI Basic Nitrox?

As you will know from your entry level course, we are limited, due to the amount of nitrogen we absorb during a dive, as to the length of time we can remain at any given depth. If we reduce that amount of nitrogen and replace it with safe levels of oxygen, we are able to increase our bottom time. For those of you who are interested in the longer dives enriched air (nitrox) is the what allows you to do those longer dives!

What do I need to start?

  • TDI Understanding Nitrox Diver Manual

What will I do?

This is the entry-level course for recreational divers wishing to utilize Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas. The purpose of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper proceedures for using Nitrox mixes from 22% to 40%. Since entry-level Nitrox is esentially an information and academic based course, no dives are specifically required as there are no skills to evaluate. However, optional Nitrox Dives are available under instructor supervision if requested.

What don't fees include?

  • Any 'personal' costs (eg. food, drink, accommodation)
  • Any Nitrox Fill required for dives.
  • PLEASE NOTE : These are all costs associated with the OPTIONAL Open Water dives.

What can I do once I'm qualified?

Divers will be able to reduce nitrogen loading at current depths for current Air NDL's by taking advantage of the ideal mix for a specific depth, adding a comfortable safety factor regarding nitrogen loading, reducing post dive fatigue, and minimising the likelihood of a decompression related problem on dives.

Also the diver has the ability take advantage of a longer bottom time (NDL), at current depths, with the ideal mix instead of air.
