Comments

Here are some comments from our previous customers....

"The course itself was challenging and demanding whilst at the same time being very eye opening as to the realities of rescuing an injured or distressed diver.

Rob's delivery of the course drew on a vast experience gained in both the medical and diving worlds, and coupled with his enthusiasm and passion for the subject really made it a worthwhile course with a real sense of achievement being felt after it's completion.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to take their diving skills up a notch. Many thanks."

From Owen Balash - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2017

"Would like to say thank you to Rob for a challenging course. Difficult but enjoyable."

From Jamie - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2017

"To improve my own skills and help others was just two of the reasons I chose to enroll in the rescue course with Rob.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my course was delayed, but Rob promised it would be delivered before my holiday, he kept his word.

The theory as always was ~value added~ due to his medical background, not just limited to the books content.

So here I am, in February (4degrees C), in my semi-dry. I thought my fitness was sufficient but I was proved wrong. After several rescue scenarios back-to-back, I was ready to be rescued myself.

The course is a big step up and a steep learning curve, changing the way you think.

So it is another big thank you to Rob and Gareth for making it a challenging and memorable weekend.
"

From Jason Cross - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2015

"I enjoyed this course, it took part over the weekend, I found it a huge challenge and it made me realise that I wasn't as fit as i thought I was!

Rob and his team are brilliant and I would definitely recommend them if you are thinking of taking a PADI course. "

From David Smith - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken August 2014

"What an amazing experience! Having completed the Rescue weekend at the quarry I can safely say i've never been more knackered in my life! I have learned so much and this course really opens your eyes to the hazards in diving and how to mitigate or eliminate them. But it also helps you gain confidence in your own skills and diving experience along with people management and situation analysis. Once again I can only praise the tuition, guidance and, uh, patience of the Cardiff Scuba training and support personnel. Many huge thanks to all involved from the classroom to the pool and onwards to the open water. Thanks also to my rescue team, by the end of the weekend we were even mildly competent :-)
A massive step up from the Advanced Open Water but a huge sense of achievement to boot. When they tell you you've passed the feeling and relief is just unexplainable. Now, onwards, practice, practice, practice and to get some dives down in the logbook, bring it on! :-)"

From Gareth Rogers - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2013

"What a fantastic course

Rob puts you under the pressure as if it was a real rescue and I would recommend it to everyone.

The course is a challenge but there is a real sense of achievement to complete it.

I know Rob, that what you have taught me is going to be with me for my future career. Thank you."

From Tim Clarke - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken August 2012

"Big thanks to the whole team (DMs and fellow rescue students) who helped us and guided us over the past few weeks.

The open water sessions are genuinely two of the most demanding days I have had for a very long time, both physically and mentally. However the feeling you get after hearing that you've passed is indescribable.

The extra steps you do on the course with Cardiff Scuba not only helps to make you feel more confident about handling an emergency should one arise but also more confident in your diving in general.

So once again, many thanks for a couple of very hard but very enjoyable few days!
"

From Ben Turner - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken August 2012

"I've just finished my rescue diver course with Cardiff scuba.

This was by far the best course I have taken since starting the sport and definitely one of the hardest. This course pushes you to your physical and mental limits but you never do more than you can handle.

I have learnt so much on this course and it's definitely something that I will always remember!

Thank you Rob and everyone who helped us and to my fellow course members for making this one of the best experiences of my life.

I'm now going to sleep for at least a week!"

From Ceri Chick - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken August 2012

"Thanks to everyone involved in my Rescue Diver course.

When I started this course I thought of it as a stepping stone towards enrolling for a DiveMaster course, but now I feel very different about it. The course has made me feel so much more confident in the water about my skills as well as how to deal with other divers if they get into trouble.

Physically the course does push you, but only to your physical capability. You learn various rescue techniques in the pool and in open water, for example on saving a panicked diver I learnt how to save someone much bigger and stronger than myself without putting myself at risk.

Thanks everyone!

Sophie"

From Sophie Morris - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken February 2012

""Expect The Unexpected" is one way of describing what this course is all about !

From start to finish you will have your eyes opened up. Cardiff Scuba go that extra bit to help you understand what a Rescue Diver is all about !

This course is definately not for the faint hearted..!

Many Thanks to Rob, Mark, Julia & Jim, for all their guidance, and support during the whole experience. I know the imprint of the weekend will remain with me always !!

"

From Gary Evans - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken February 2012

"Definite eye opener, and a course certainly not to be under estimated!!!

The knowledge gained from this course will go a long way! The tuition was superb, and well worth the effort.

Big thanks to everyone involved - Really appreciated the support!"

From James Perkins - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken January 2012

"Recently completed the EFR and Rescue Diver course. Many thanks to Rob, Mark and all the team of instructors. It was an excellent course that was both challenging and rewarding. It has raised my confidence as a diver as I learnt so much in a packed but enjoyable course. I can recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their diving skills. In addition to the course Cardiff Scuba are always willing to offer helpful and objective advice about any aspect of diving. Once again many thanks. Martin Donovan. "

From Martin Donovan - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"Well, it's almost a week since I passed my Rescue Diver course and I've been trying to think of what to say that will do the course and the staff justice.

We were told that the course would be the most physically demanding course we would ever do and that was not an overstatement!

The theory was not too bad but the initial pool session was a real eye-opener! I had not expected to be acting out a scene from James Bond's Thunderball. Although this was a bit of a shock it was great fun and handled very safely by all the support staff.

The open water weekend will forever be burnt into my memory. We didn't know what to expect and the first few scenarios were handled (if this is the right word) by us in various stages of chaos. I'm sure that to the staff we looked like the Keystone Cops and by 11 o'clock we were a little despondent.

Rob then gave us one of his famous pep talks and thing began to change and we started to gel as a team and actually look like Rescue Divers.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel proud of my new certification. The Rescue Diver course has provided me with the skills and attitude to hopefully be a help and not a hindrance in any emergency situation.

The staff at Cardiff Scuba have again provided an excellent course with plenty of emotional support. I'd like to thank Rob, Mark and all the support staff for their help and excellent acting skills and this again proved that Cardiff Scuba is head and shoulders above any other training provider.

I wholly recommend this course to any diver wishing to learn a brand new set of skills and attitudes. Be aware however that this course is not for the faint hearted but can be passed with hard work and dedication."

From Jason Rochefort - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"This is great course and is invaluable to your diving. As others have said, the course will challenge you physically and mentally but it is also great fun and well worth it. I can't recommend this course enough to any advanced open water divers wondering if they should take the next step. The skills you will learn could literally be life-savers.

The course is very thorough and well run as we've come to expect from Cardiff Scuba. Massive thanks to Rob, Mark and all the DMs who assisted on the day. Next stop, Divemaster!"

From Andrew Drayton - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"Another fantastic course delivered by the chaps at Cardiff Scuba.

Rob, Mark and all the DMs were very professional as always. This course will transform your diving, definitely recommended.

I haven't stopped smiling since I got home. A GREAT COURSE, THANK YOU ALL !!!!!!!!! "

From Liam Dunford - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"Knackered, knackered, knackered- that's the first thing that comes to mind. Great course, well organised and executed as are all the courses with Cardiff Scuba.

A big thank you to Rob and the team for getting me through and thanks to the rest of the course students. Couldnt have done it without any of you :) "

From Russ - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"What can I say? Sat at home aching from head to toe, completely shattered, but on the table beside me is my PADI Rescue certificate and badge!

Quite simply one of the best things (but also the most demanding), I've ever done.

Thanks go to everyone of the instructors and DM's, not only for weekend, but all the classroom and pool work too as well as your time, your patience, your professionalism and your enthusiasm.

There are too many of you to mention individually, but my thanks go to you all. If you're a PADI Advanced Diver, book this course now! You will not regret it. It will transform your diving. There really is no reason not to. And if you want to do the course with the best bunch of people out there, then your in luck, your on the website already!"

From Craig Lish - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken June 2011

"When you see other Rescue courses going on, run by other dive clubs, you see why a Cardiff Scuba rescue course is so popular, and so rewarding too.

There is no comprimise with drills and skills which makes for a better quality of diver and course. Not only thoroughly enjoyable but a brilliant learning experience by an excellent team of instuctors.

Thanks again to Rob, Mark, John, Mike, Steve and Jess for another brilliant course"

From Jez - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2010

"Just like to say a big thank you to Rob, Mark, John, Mike, Steve and Jess and the rest of the in-water assistants who put me through the rescue course.

It's the hardest course I've ever done but well worth it, you learn from the best.

Many thanks to my fellow rescue divers Leanne, Simone and Jez and a big thank you to Cardiff Scuba."

From Paul Wilkins - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken March 2011

"I would like to say a big thank you to all at Cardiff Scuba for putting up with me on the Rescue Course on Saturday and Sunday. You have all showen me a great deal of things and how serious some situations can be was a really big eye opener.

I feel like I've done 10 rounds in the boxing ring - lol. I can just about move and am really tired.

I would also reccommend cardiff scuba if anyone is considering doing their Rescue Divers course as they are very helpful in all the details that are given. Just be prepared that you have to give this course your full committment and attention - it is well worth it at the end.

Once again thank you all xx"

From Leanne Griffith - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken March 2011

"A BIG thank you to Rob and his VERY professional dive team for the effort, enthusiasm and encouragement they demonstrated in getting us through this very demanding course.
In setting high standards it gives you an appreciation of how much there is to learn and the value of responsibility and teamwork.
I have 'lived' this course for the last 2 weeks and today I am tired and ache but it was worth every bit!!
"

From Nick (dad) And Michael - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2010

From Sarah Edney - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2010

"Very challenging but equally rewarding, an excellent course. Thanks To Rob, Mark and all the divemasters."

From Pedr James - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2010

"This is by far the most demanding course I have undertaken, yet it is the most rewarding.

The instruction and assistance given was suberb and thorough - exactly what you`d expect from Cardiff Scuba.

Thanks to Rob, Mark and all the inwater assistants who really made me work for this certification, whilst maintaining my safety.

Thanks Guys

`If you want to be the best you have to learn from the best !!`

Also thanks to my `Rescue Team`: Well done Pedr, Sarah, Nick and Michael.

Gareth."

From Gareth Hedges - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken October 2010

"Just completed my PADI Rescue Diver Course.

Many thanks to Rob, Mark and all the guys who assisted with not only the pool session, but also the quarry on the weekend.

This is by far the best course I have done yet.

My team mates over the weekend have said it all on previous comments, but I also have to say that Cardiff Scuba provide the best training in Wales. Their professionalism, commitment to quality and knowledge makes their training first class.

This course is a 'must' for all divers.

Well done to Rachel, James, Mark, Nia and Sharon who also passed the course. We all worked fab as a team.

Cheers, Paul"

From Paul Harris - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken May 2009

"'Expect the unexpected!!!'

Even though a bit apprehensive about doing the course, it did make sense to book myself on.....until the first & second the theory sessions followed by the pool session, my comment to Paul was 'What the hell have you got me into'.

Yes, it is a totally new ball game, from being an AOW diver to becoming a Cardiff Scuba PADI Rescue Diver.

Rob & all the Cardiff Scuba team were amazing (nothing new there), they had the committment, patience & strength (especially in the panicked diver senarios) from the whole team. A BIG round of appaulse.

A few bits of kit lost in action, broken & torn (Shiny's the Elf's dry suit), every muscle aching, faces a lovely shade of red from the sun, but what a fantastic course.

I will certainly be 100 times more aware of what could possibly go wrong when diving and feel now more confident in dealing with or taking charge of an incident.

We really had to 'earn' this PADI card.

Also a massive thank you for your support & team work to my team mates, Paul, Marc, James, Nia & Sharon (emails are on there way). Well done & look forward to diving safely with you all.

Rach xx

From Rachel - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken May 2009

"Well - what can I say. What an incredible experience. I have just successfully completed my Rescue Course with Rob and the sense of achievement, the emotions and sheer elation is amazing. I feel that my confidence as a diver has increased 100%, my awareness of what goes on around me has also increased no end and I genuinely feel that my diving has taken a massive step forward.

I thoroughly recommend this course for those of you who dive and have reached the AOW cert. Be prepared for a real slog but also embrace all of the challenges and meet them head on - you'll be so glad that you did. As a Cardiff Scuba PADI Rescue Diver, you will be the best of the best at this level as Rob and his team of dedicated DM's will ensure that you are.

I want to thank all of the DM's that have helped us, supported us and made us into what we are now, lots to mention, but you all know who you are - thank you. Also a big thanks to Mark Culwick for his amazing experience and guidance and finally to Rob whose patience, professionalism, dedication and sheer passion comes through every time I dive with him. Thank you so much mate.

Congrats to James, Nia, Sharon, Rach and Paul, it was a real learning curve for us all, we did it and we have come out as friends too.

Thanks guys

Marc"

From Marc Powell - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken May 2009

"Dear Ian & Rob,

Apologies in advance for the length of this comment - but I'm not known for being a woman of few words.

I had done the PADI Rescue Diver course previously at another centre and was truly amazed at the quality and professionalism delivered by you and your team.

I received full, comprehensive EFR training from Rob (Instructor & a Professional Nurse), combined with a plethora of examples of real life emergencies from a Team who really have had to rescue people - successfully!

Not only do I feel safer diving with your school but it also enhances the learning experience considerably. To think that other centres, in the UK and overseas, can award a Rescue Diver qualification after 2 days training and 20 minutes on EFR now gives me cause for great concern.

I am sure I am not alone in my experience and would urge anyone already with a Rescue Diver Pass to take the course again with Cardiff Scuba, to see what they then think about their previous training. The time, effort and attention to detail offered by Cardiff Scuba in delivering this course, I feel, means that you CANNOT pass this course without being properly prepared for an emergency should one arise. This is exactly how it should be done at ALL PADI centres.

Thank you for giving me back my confidence in PADI's training courses and working so hard to make the Dive Community a Safer place!!!"

From Sharon Pugh - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken May 2009

"Excellent course during which unfortunately I made a" few" mistakes. No pass for me and quite right, so a few weeks later Rob had me back again after the Christmas break to show I had "got it".The course is a absolute must for the safety of you and those you dive with.Tiring certainly, rewarding absolutely, and if the old fella can do it(age withheld due to modesty) so can you.Just do it.Alex."

From Alex - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken November 2008

"The Rescue Diver course is NOT for the faint hearted! This qualification sets to sharpen your skills as a diver and builds your ability to make a reasonable assessment of a life threatening situation and respond to it appropriately. A thoroughly knackering and enjoyable course with Rob and a team of patient Dive Masters! "

From Diana Denman - PADI Rescue Diver, course taken November 2008
